OUR WHY

We believe that remarkable things happen when we find the courage (and time) to depart from the ordinary and commit to an adventure. Our experience has shown us that regardless of our backgrounds, an adventure sparks in each of us, inspiration, innovative thinking and fresh perspectives. It creates deeper connections with nature, those around us and of course ourselves. We believe that the benefits of exploring the unknown, risking uncertainty and pushing ourselves extend far beyond the immediate experience.

OUR WHAT

Lakota-Expeditions was born out of a deep rooted desire to explore wild places and a relentless obsession to create exceptional cycling adventures. We're dedicated to inspiring and helping those who want to explore further. We draw from over 20 years of cross discipline expedition experience, in some of the most remote and hostile environments in the world, to offer a range of exceptional guided cycling expeditions in the UK and abroad.

Our How

We achieve our mission by focusing on 5 Core Elements.

We...

Blend adventure and exploration with guidance and support so that almost anyone can join us for an adventure.

Create a network of like-minded people who love to explore, share stories and support each other along the way.

ABOUT US

Oh, and we know that some will like to know a bit about the people behind the scenes. We're partial to a good  'About Us' button too; we're curious creatures at heart...

Lakota-Expeditions is a small team of adventure specialists based in the UK's Lake District. Founders, Kirk and Kerri Wadsworth met whilst serving in the British Army. Their military careers and their love of adventure has meant that a good portion of their lives have been spent in remote and wild places.

Kerri epitomises organisational leadership, calmness and empathy. An accomplished runner, climber, skier turned Army biathlete, her ability to ski fast and shoot straight, coupled with her spreadsheet prowess, means that she’s always one step ahead. Now a dedicated mum to three; keeping the kids in check, Kerri is most at home on a family Bikepacking trip, exploring sunny places whilst conjuring up a list of jobs that will lead to the next family adventure.

Before Bikepacking took the firmest of grips, Kirk honed his craft on snow, rock and ice, participating or leading military expeditions around the world. As an Alpine Mountain Instructor, Kirk supported many ambitious projects and was privileged to support a team of the UK's Special Forces during their Himalayan expedition which concluded in their successful Everest summit. Succumbing to head-to-toe Lycra and Ski Mountaineering Racing, Kirk represented Great Britain at two World Championships. Wild and remote – he’s in! After moving to The Lakes, he ran to the fells (literally), and with help from local activists completed the                          becoming the first person to combine a Frog Graham Round, A Bob Graham Round and the Fred Whitton Challenge, back-to-back. He's a member of the Association of Mountain Instructors and holds the UK's highest mountain / offroad cycling qualification.

When required, Lakota-Expeditions uses the very best qualified and experienced people around to help them facilitate exceptional adventures.
